Fleabag

Production Design

Jonathan Paul Green was Production Designer on both Series 1 and Series 2 of the multi-award-winning Fleabag, directed by Harry Bradbeer and produced by Two Brothers Pictures for the BBC.

Both series were predominantly shot on location in London, with a number of sets created within existing location spaces. These included Fleabag’s bedroom, Dad’s attic, Claire’s office lift, the restaurant toilet and other specially built interiors.

Returning for Series 2 gave us the opportunity to develop the visual world established in the first series, introducing subtle, darker changes while retaining the character and familiarity of the original locations.

One of the biggest challenges was recreating Fleabag’s Guinea Pig Café. The original location had been completely gutted and was undergoing a major refurbishment when we returned for Series 2. Rather than lose such an important part of Fleabag’s world, we temporarily transformed the building back into the café established in Series 1.
